The Brief
Bolster Building Design was engaged to prepare Development Application plans for a new Rural Fire Service (RFS) Depot and Control Centre at Pacific Palms. The facility is intended to support the critical work of the RFS by providing a purpose-built operations base, vehicle parking, and supporting infrastructure, including upgraded stormwater management.
Our Solution
The proposal includes a modern RFS building equipped to accommodate emergency response operations, administration, equipment storage, and crew facilities. A functional carpark layout ensures efficient vehicle movement and accessibility, while the reconfiguration of the existing stormwater drainage channel improves site performance and environmental resilience. The layout and materials have been selected for durability, ease of maintenance, and compatibility with emergency service operations.
The Challenges
Delivering a functional and compliant facility on a site with existing drainage infrastructure required close coordination with civil consultants to rework stormwater flow across the property. The layout had to ensure operational efficiency for the RFS while addressing planning requirements from Midcoast Council. The project is currently in the Tender Stage, moving one step closer to supporting the dedicated volunteers of the Pacific Palms RFS.
