The Brief
The client envisioned a light-filled, modern home that embraced its natural bushland surroundings while maintaining privacy and comfort. Key design requirements included elevated ceilings, generous glazing, seamless indoor-outdoor living, and an entertainment-focused layout. The home needed to include two-car garaging, internal access, and an inground swimming pool. Additionally, the design needed to respond to the environmental constraints of a sloping site within a bushfire-prone area.
Our Solution
We created a contemporary home that integrates harmoniously with the bushland setting. Strategically placed balconies and full-height windows capture sweeping bush views while integrated screening ensures privacy. The open-plan living space boasts soaring 3.6m ceilings and flows directly to a spacious entertaining deck and landscaped rear yard. Solar passive principles were incorporated throughout to maximise natural light and thermal comfort. The layout includes secure two-car garaging with internal access and a beautifully positioned inground swimming pool that extends the home’s outdoor lifestyle offering.
The Challenges
Designing for a sloping site in a designated bushfire zone presented significant challenges. We carefully considered site contours and environmental constraints, ensuring the design met BAL (Bushfire Attack Level) compliance while preserving bushland views. Earthworks, structure, and materials were all tailored to suit the terrain and bushfire requirements, balancing safety, sustainability, and visual appeal.
